Omnicare 1Q sales grow 3%, but profit slides on special items

Omnicare Inc. (NYSE: OCR) reported first-quarter net sales of $1.53 billion, up 3 percent from $1.49 billion the same period a year ago, on the strength of prescription volumes.
Net income, however, decreased 42 percent to $29 million from $51 million largely because of special items and higher expenses.
